Roma

Roma is the cradle of Australia’s oil and gas industry and home to the largest beef sale yards in the country

Highlights

The Big Rig recounts the twists and drama of the early gas industry, bringing to life the pioneers’ story through exhibits, machinery displays, audiovisual features and local “Roma Rigger” guides.

Hoof it over to the enormous Roma Saleyards for a free behind-the-scenes tour on all things beef where volunteers lead tours Tuesdays and Thursdays during peak season.

Call into St Paul’s Anglican Church for its stunning display of more than 50 leadlight and stained glass windows, dating as far back as 1876 and learn the region’s stories and secrets on a Boobook Ecotour, which includes Explore Roma Town and Wheat, Wells and Wildlife.
