Surat

Discover the romance of Cobb & Co at Surat

Highlights

The Great Inland Way follows the Balonne River to Surat. This picturesque township played a significant role in the Cobb & Co era of the late 19th century, when passenger and mail stagecoaches opened inland Australia to European pioneer settlements. The Cobb & Co Changing Station – the original site of the Cobb & Co store and drop-off point for travellers and goods – features a 25,000 litre freshwater aquarium and the Cobb & Co Store Museum, home to a replica 14-seater Cobb & Co Coach and Art Gallery.

Take in the scenery through the eyes of early settlers by following the journey of coach passengers on Cobb & Co Way, a 76km drive to Yuleba.
