There’s more to explore in the Central Queensland Highlands when you arrive in Emerald. Its strawbale Visitor Information Centre is next to the world’s biggest replica Van Gogh Sunflower painting and the Centenary of Federation Mosaic Pathway, and across from the National Trust-listed Emerald Railway Station.
The 42ha Emerald Botanic Gardens, on the banks of the Nogoa River, include a rose garden, maze, sculptures, rainforest, fitness trails, barbecues and playground.
A short drive away is Queensland’s second largest lake, Lake Maraboon, home to beautiful sunsets and a popular spot for and Red Claw crayfishing.
