Waterfall chasing and Tropical North Queensland go hand in hand. Head just out of Cairns City to the stunning Crystal Cascades and Stoney Creek. Or make way to Kuranda, the village in the rainforest, to see the ginormous Barron Falls, which transforms from a trickle to a roaring cascade in summer. On the Atherton Tablelands you can drive the iconic waterfall circuit, home to a trifecta of waterfalls including Millaa Millaa Falls. A little further inland you can find Millstream Falls, Australia’s widest single-drop waterfall. South of Cairns lies Josephine Falls, tumbling from Queensland’s Highest Mountain, Mt Bartle Frere.
