Lightning Ridge

Opal is Australia’s national gemstone and Lightning Ridge is home of the most precious opal of all – Black Opal. Arguably one of Australia’s most unique towns, Lightning Ridge offers unique experiences such as underground sculptures, bottle-houses, castles, astronomy monuments, unique gardens, hills named ‘Lunatic’, ‘Pig’ and Bald’, and underground mine tours. Plus there’s the chance to find your very own opal.

Lightning Ridge is also renowned for its soothing Bore Baths, fed from the Great Artesian Basin.
